ST-301 Spider

Wire line detector for the detection and localization of wired eavesdropping devices

WIRE LINE DETECTOR ST-301 SPIDER

The wire line analyzer ST 301 SPIDER is designed to detect and localize eavesdropping devices that are galvanically connected to power mains and low-current cables.

Passive and active modes of operation are used to detect enabled, switched off, or faulty eavesdropping devices.

Capabilities

Search channels of ST 301 SPIDER.

Passive channels:

  • LOW FREQUENCY AMPLIFIER. The channel is intended for the detection of low-frequency signals from eavesdropping devices in low-current lines. Signal analysis is performed using graphical information (oscillogram or spectrogram) and acoustic information (via headphones or built-in speaker);
  • WIRED RECEIVER. The channel is intended for the detection of signals from eavesdropping devices that transmit information via electric mains and low current lines in the frequency range of 0.1 – 180 MHz. Signal analysis is performed using graphical information (oscillogram or spectrogram) and acoustic information (via headphones or built-in speaker).

Active channels:

  • NON-LINEAR JUNCTION DETECTOR. The channel is intended for the detection of eavesdropping devices (including switched off and/or faulty ones) connected to wire lines. The principle of operation of the wired non-linear junction detector of the analyzer is similar to the principle of operation of a conventional non-linear junction detector. The built-in transmitter sends a probing signal to the line being tested, and the receiver captures the reflected signals at frequencies of the 2nd and 3rd harmonics. The presence of signals at these frequencies indicates the presence of non-linearity or metal-metal oxide structure in the line. If the level of the 2nd harmonic exceeds the level of the 3rd harmonic, then there is a high probability that an electronic device is galvanically connected to the line. If the level of the 3rd harmonic exceeds the level of the 2nd harmonic, it is likely that there is a metal-metal oxide structure in the line;
  • REFLECTOMETER. Intended for testing cables in order to detect abnormal galvanic connections (inhomogeneities). A sinusoidal signal is sent into the cable, which is reflected from the inhomogeneity and returns with a delay. The phase of the reflected signal differs from the phase of the transmitted one. Similar procedures are performed for a variety of frequencies. As a result, a spectrum with alternating maxima is formed, analyzing which it is possible to determine the distance to the defect (inhomogeneity) in the cable being tested. The reflectometer determines the distance to the inhomogeneity with an accuracy of ± 0.6 m, which depends on the correctly set Velocity Factor (VF).

Only one channel can work at a time.

Each channel operates in certain modes. Each mode corresponds to a set of search functions.
